Introducing our Pocket Mirror.
Inspired by white pine beams we salvaged from a factory in Philadelphia, these beams had what is called joist pockets. They were carefully hand-carved slots where they would rest the joists to support the floor above. In the 1880s, they realized it was stronger to rest the joists on top. Construction of buildings changed overnight and with that these beautiful hand-made details died out.
This mirror is an ode to those beautiful perfectly cut squares. The mirror comes in every sustainable and local species we saw and process here in Philadelphia, PA. We source all of our wood from Philadelphia and not one stick of reclaimed wood or hardwood is harvested.
